On January 25th, 2024 Sarah Tolve was looking for wintering PIping Plovers at Cumberland Island National Seashore in Georgia and found gabbY (named for her light green, light blue and yellow bands - gbY). It was very exciting to hear that she's still doing well. Gabby is currently the oldest Piping Plover in the Great Lakes population and tied for the oldest we've ever recorded. You can read all about her long and eventful life on the "plover stories" tab of our website. Click on her photo. It's the second-to-last in the list.

That's amazing news about Gabby! Finding her after so long is truly special. Speaking of finding things, have you all been compiling a Pokerogue Dex for the game Pokerogue ? It feels like searching for rare creatures in the wild, just like Sarah looking for plovers. Gabby's story is inspiring; I wonder what adventures await her this year.
