Great Lakes Piping Plover 2019 Breeding Season Begins

A pair of plovers beginning their nesting season!

The 2019 Great Lakes Piping Plover breeding season is in full swing. The first nest was found last week on May 8th. We currently have 11 nests with more being discovered throughout the Great Lakes region daily. Please help our feathered plover friends by respecting all signs and beach closures, keeping dogs off closed beaches, and otherwise on leashes, and giving the plovers a little space.
